Smart Data Is Ready, but Execution Will Define 2026
Smart data has moved from idea to something that can be built into live journeys, but execution is now the defining gap. Lenders that build AI capability in production, not just theory, will be the ones who win in 2026 and beyond.
Principle‑Based FCA Governance and the Shift to Evidence‑First AI
The FCA remains principle‑based with no separate AI rulebooks, keeping the focus on outcomes, governance, and evidence under Consumer Duty. With digital ID maturing, the DITF register live, and QES already accepted, lenders can shift error‑catching earlier and build more trustworthy, evidence‑first journeys.
HDI as the Operating Layer for Governed, Agentic AI
HDI acts as the operating system for governed AI, creating the rail that shortens journeys and increases confidence. As agentic capabilities advance, lenders need safe endpoints, logs, and rate‑limited APIs, alongside identity and evidence rails and digital property‑check patterns. Smart data provides the foundation, but HDI is how it delivers predictable, scalable AI workflows.
